I was reading some blogs last week and came across First Lines Friday on What Em’s Reading by EmilyJane1995,find the post here. The post includes a the first sentence, of a book and and what it means to the blogger.
So here we go:-
The Eagle Has Landed by Jack Higgins
“Someone was digging a grave in one corner of the cemetery as I went through the lychgate”
This line to me is like, sitting in front of a roaring fire, on a cold day with a warm drink, when the world and everyone you know is safe. Even writing this blog has made me want to read it again. What like about this opening line, it does not tell you anything about the book, It just tells you where the person is what’s he doing and who else is there. It also made me look up what a lychgate is.
So what are you favourite first lines from a book either comment bellow or start doing your own First Line Friday post and link back to This blog and Emmajane1995’s blog.
