This is the post I do every Friday, which I post a first line of a book, which generally has a connection to a date close to when it is posted. In addition the book is usually one that I have read or is on my TBR.

So here goes:-

A Study In Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

“In the year 1878 I took my Degree of Doctoer of Medicine of the Univerity of London, and proceeded to Netley to go through the course prescribed for sugeons in the army.”

I chose to do A Study in Scarlet as my first line Friday today as the 7th of july 2020 marks the 90th  anniversary of the death of the author Sir Arthur conan Doyle, in 1930. although Sherlock Holmes is is most famous creation along with his side kick Dr. Watson. A Study In Scarlet, is the first story that Holmes is in and also shows the meeting between the two men.

I first came across the Sherlock Holmes watching the Basil Rathbone version on tv, I also remember watching the Hound of the Baskerivilles, on a Sunday afternoon staring Tom Baker playing the detective, shortly after he finished playing Dr Who.

I brought my first Sherlock Holmes, book The Hound of the Baskervilles at about the same time of the TV series although I never read that version, however a few years ago I read all the These books over one Christmas.
