Feelings Given to Me

  1. Sloth – What was the last book you read before you hit a reading slump? How did you get out of it?

To be honest  I can not remember the last time that i was involved in a reading slump that   meant I did not finish a book, though sometimes it takes a while to get into a book.

The  main way I do this, so  when I  get near to the end of the book, I start planning on what I want to read next.

  1. Wrath – Name a book or a character that made you angry/ upset. It can be anything about a book such as a MC dying or an ending etc.

There have been many books over the years that have made me angry, some because they are just bad books, but rather than choose one of them I am going to mention one of the first books I reviewed  from netgalley for a fair and honest review.

That book was Sycamore Drive: A Novel by Charles Michael Casper, which told the story about child abuse in the catholic church, in Boston during th 1950’s. The book showed how people were involved with the cover up so they could gain from it.

  1. Pride – Name a book in your collection that you are proud of and why. Is it a book that makes you feel more accomplished as a reader or a particular edition that is gorgeous!

I am going to be slightly cheeky on on this and claim 6 books that were on my grandads shelf when i was a child the books where as follows

You can read more about the books here. And I have read them all of and some books will be with me for a life time.

  1. Lust – What is a book you are desperate to read and why?

This would be the follow up to The Burning Chambers, which i read earlier this year, (read my review here),  It is The City of Tears,

Which is set during the religious wars in France Neighbours have become enemies, countless lives have been lost, and the country has been torn apart over matters of religion, citizenship and sovereignty. But now a precarious peace is in the balance: a royal wedding has been negotiated by Catherine de’ Medici and Jeanne d’Albret, an alliance between the Catholic Crown and Henri, the Huguenot king of Navarre. It is a marriage that could see France reunited at last.

Meanwhile in Puivert, an invitation has arrived for Minou Joubert and her family to attend this historic wedding in Paris in August. But what Minou does not know is that the Joubert family’s oldest enemy, Vidal, will also be there. Nor that, within days of the marriage, on the eve of the Feast Day of St Bartholomew, Minou’s family will be scattered to the four winds and one of her beloved children will have disappeared without trace

I requested it earlier this yeart from Netgally to review however as because of the pandemic it is now due to be published on the 19th january, if i don’t get a review cpy, i will be buying it on the day it comes out.

  1. Greed – What is the longest book you have read this year? Did you enjoy it?

This would be Stalingrad by the Russain writer, Vassily Grossman, it is about World War 2 from the russain side, telling the  through a number of different perspectives, with the follow up book, Life And Fate it is commonly called the Second World War’s War and peace, you can read my review here.

As normal I am just going to nominate any one who has read this far and the questions I chose are the same that I answered.
